WINGS (WOMEN INSPIRING AND NURTURING GIRLS TO SUCCEED)

Launched in 2001 as Soroptimist International of San Bernardino's main service project, WINGS brings together local high school girls annually for a half day conference for the purpose of inspiring young women to become leaders in our community.  Topics for this conference have included self-esteem, interview and business skills, mentoring, personal finances and budgeting, peer pressure, professional attire, importance of community service, and etiquette.  If you wish to attend this workshop, donate, or to learn more, please use the contact form

WOMEN'S OPPORTUNITY AWARD

The Women's Opportunity Award was established by Soroptimist International of the Americas in 1972 for the purposes of supporting women in entering or re-entering the workforce through advancement in education and training needed to improve their employment status -- an opportunity they may not have had previously, whether due to economic or social barriers.

Awards are given to women-headed households who provide the primary financial support to the family and are attending -- or have been accepted to -- a college, university, or trade / vocational program, with a goal to further their career goals.  Finalists may advance to the Golden West Region and Federation for further recognition.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR WOMEN

Honoring the women who improve lives for women and girls in our community, the Making a Difference for Women Award honors a woman each year who is viewed by her peers to advance women and girls through her professional or volunteer activities.

VIOLET RICHARDSON AWARD

Violet RichardsonNamed for the president of the first Soroptimist club, the Violet Richardson Award annually honors young women (between 14 and 17 years of age) who are making a difference through volunteer service directed toward making the community a better place.  Local awardees may become eligible to receive additional awards at other club levels of the organization.
